Water Restrictions Lowered In Beech Mountain (Beech Mountain, NC)

Water restrictions are easing in the town of Beech Mountain.  Residents were under a state of emergency after a gate release valve malfunctioned in the reservoir last week, causing officials to implement the strongest water restrictions that can be issued.  Town officials said yesterday that residents can now get back to about 80-percent general water use.  The reservoir was drained and is still being refilled.  

Woman Dies In Marion Crash (Marion, NC)

Marion Police say a woman died in a crash with a tractor trailer on Saturday morning.  Her car and the big rig collided at the intersection of U.S. 221 and Highway 226 south of downtown.  Four passengers in the car were also taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville for injuries.

Most Power Back Up After Ice Damage (Asheville, NC)

Most power is back on for residents affected by another round of icy conditions in western North Carolina.  Fallen trees ripped down power lines in Hendersonville on Friday night.  Some of those power customers were without electricity for the weekend.  The only significant power outages that remained early this morning were in Caldwell County south of Blowing Rock.  

Suspect Connected To Hickory Shooting Arrested For Drug Possession (Hickory, NC)

One suspect connected to a deadly shooting in Hickory is facing felony drug charges.  Hickory police officers said Garan Wilburn was arrested last week after they found almost 60 grams of pot at his home.  Wilburn was arrested in April after he allegedly fired shots during a shootout at The Vault Bar and Lounge.  One man was killed.  

Longtime Asheville Toy Store Closing (Asheville, NC)

The 2018 holiday season will be the last for a longtime toy store in North Asheville.  WLOS-TV says the Toy Box on Merrimon Avenue will be closing its doors for good after over 30 years in business.  Owner Gary Green hasn't been able to sell the store in the last few years and officially decided to retire on December 22nd.  

Carl Sandburg Home Ready For Holidays (Flat Rock, NC)

It's time for the holidays at the historic home of Carl Sandburg in Flat Rock.  The National Park Service kicked off the home's 50th anniversary on Saturday with the opening of Christmas at Connerama.  The Pulitzer Prize winner's home will be decked out with Christmas decorations until January 6th.  It's open daily for tours.    

Suspect Arrested After Motel Shooting (Charlotte, NC)

One man is facing murder charges in a deadly Charlotte motel shooting.  Justin Fuller was allegedly gunned down as he opened a door at the Holiday Motel on North Tryon Street early Sunday morning.  The CMPD arrested Demarco Crawford for murder.  Investigators said Crawford left the motel after an argument, but came back and shot Fuller.    

Deputy Shoots Resident In Mooresville (Mooresville, NC)

An officer-involved shooting in Mooresville is being investigated by the SBI.  An Iredell County deputy says she was responding to a domestic dispute late Saturday on Tall Oak Drive near Lake Norman when a resident opened the door and pointed a gun at her.  She shot the man in the abdomen.  The man has since been released from the hospital.  

Accused Attempted Kidnapper Released From Gaston County Jail (Gaston County, NC)

A Gaston County man accused of trying to kidnap a ten-year-old girl is out of jail.  Tim Varner posted bond on Friday night.  Witnesses told WSOC-TV that Varner was cornered by neighbors at a gas station after he tried taking the girl on Ware Avenue earlier this month.  He has been ordered to stay at home unless he is heading to court or to see his attorney.    

Suspected Drunk Driver Causes Fatal Crash (Rowan County, NC)

The state highway patrol believes a driver was drunk in a deadly three-car crash in Rowan County on Saturday.  The man allegedly veered onto the shoulder of I-85 north of Salisbury and slammed into two cars parked for a tire change.  One person was killed and five were taken to the hospital.  The suspected drunk driver was among those injured.    

Salisbury Teen Shot To Death On Thanksgiving Day (Rowan County, NC)

A suspect is being charged with involuntary manslaughter for a Thanksgiving Day shooting in Salisbury.  A 19-year-old was reportedly shot during a family gathering on Lincoln Avenue and later died at the hospital.  Officers later found a shotgun in the woods behind the home.  Talib Kelly was arrested for involuntary manslaughter and another man was charged with making a false police report.     

Panthers Fall To Seattle At Home (Charlotte, NC)

The Panthers' ten-game home winning streak is over.  A last-second field goal by Seattle lifted the Seahawks over Carolina 30-to-27 at Bank of America Stadium yesterday.  Christan McCaffrey set a franchise record for yards from scrimmage after gaining over 100 yards in both rushing and receiving.  The Panthers dropped four games behind the division-leading Saints.
