The Fed Cup Returns To Asheville in 2019

The best in American women's tennis return to the US Cellular Center in February.

For the second year in a row, Asheville will host the U.S. Fed Cup Team's first round match, this time against Australia. USTA Senior Director of Team Events Jeff Ryan says last year's event went so well, the internal discussions of bringing it back began during the cleanup. He says there was "an aura" about the atmosphere in Asheville, "unlike no others that we'd seen with Fed Cup."

Asheville City Councilwoman Julie Mayfield said last year's Fed Cup event had an estimated economic impact of $3.5 million on the city. The US Cellular Center was sold out for the two-day event, which featured Serena and Venus Williams. The defending champion US Team tied the Netherlands, and since have paved a path to the Fed Cup final in Prague next month.
