Troopers:  Alcohol A Factor In Deadly Motorcycle Crash (Hendersonville, NC)

State troopers believe alcohol and speed were factors in a fatal motorcycle crash in Hendersonville.  A female passenger died after she was ejected from the motorcycle and hit a guardrail on U.S. Highway 64.  The driver was rushed to the hospital for injuries.  Charges are pending.      

Black Mountain Pastor's Attorney Seeks Release In Turkey (Black Mountain, NC)

The lawyer of a Black Mountain pastor under house arrest in Turkey is seeking his release.  Andrew Brunson has been held since 2016 for accusations that he helped a terrorist organization.   His attorney is trying to have his travel ban lifted as well.  The ruling is expected to take three to five days.    

Rain Coming To WNC (Undated)

Forecasters are predicting heavy rain through much of the week in Western North Carolina.  An unsettled weather pattern is expected to move in today and stick around through Friday.  Rainfall amounts through the region could range anywhere from three to five inches.  

Asheville Man Heading To Prison For Sexual Assault (Asheville, NC)

An Asheville man is heading to prison for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.  Buncombe County investigators said the man gave the girl methamphetamine before the assault.  He entered a guilty plea for the sexual offense, while the drug charges were dismissed.  The man was sentenced to a minimum of ten years in prison.  

Health Officials Seek Grant To Fight Opioids (Raleigh, NC)

North Carolina is pushing for a large grant to fight opioid addictions in the state.  Governor Cooper gave the nod to allow health officials to apply for a 25-million-dollar federal grant that would help around five-thousand people.  An officer at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville told WLOS-TV that the state needs funding to help around 100-thousand people.   

Bands Take Stage For Biltmore Concert Series (Asheville, NC)

The annual Biltmore Concert Series kicks of its 22nd year on Thursday.  Creedence Clearwater Revisited and Night Ranger take the stage on the South Terrace of the Biltmore House.  Former late night star and comedian Jay Leno performs on Friday.  You can purchase tickets at biltmore-dot-com.
