NC Congressman Tables Rosenstein Impeachment (Washington, DC)

North Carolina Representative Mark Meadows says he will table the effort to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein after meetings with Republican leadership.  Speaker of the House Paul Ryan announced Thursday he would not support the effort.  The North Carolina congressman will reboot the effort if the Department of Justice doesn't hand over documents related to the Russia and Clinton email investigations. 

Trump Threatens Turkey To Release Black Mountain Pastor (Washington, DC)

President Trump is threatening Turkey with sanctions if a Black Mountain pastor isn't released from custody.  Andrew Brunson is under house arrest there for allegations that he aided terrorist groups.  Trump said on Twitter that Brunson should be released immediately.  Turkey's foreign minister says they won't tolerate threats. 

Arrest Made In Pisgah Inn Homicide (Canton, NC)

A Pisgah Inn employee is facing second-degree murder charges in the death of his co-worker.  The Asheville suspect originally told investigators that the woman disappeared after they went on a hike after work.  Investigators say the suspect later confessed the murder to the Inn's manager.  The victim was found near a trail within the boundary of the Blue Ridge Parkway.    

Suspect Arrested In McDowell County Shooting (McDowell County, NC)

A suspect accused of shooting a Marion man in the chest yesterday is in jail.  McDowell County deputies believe an argument led to the shooting on Proctors Knob.  It took around two hours for officials to find Jason Lee Morgan in woods close to the scene.  The victim is at Asheville's Mission Hospital.

Buncombe County Budget Director To Retire (Buncombe County, NC)

Buncombe's budget director will be the sixth county official to leave this year.  Diane Price is retiring after 27 years with the county.  The last four of those have been as budget director.  The county's manager and assistant manager have already retired in 2018.    

Portion Of Highway Nine Re-opens Today (Bat Cave, NC)

A part of Highway Nine that's been closed due to a landslide will partially re-open today in Henderson County.  Crews have been working since last month to clear tons of debris that completely covered both lanes of traffic.  The DOT says workers will be flagging local traffic over a gravel section of the highway until the lanes re-open completely.  Traffic is allowed over the gravel portion from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Three Arrested For Murder Of Missing Man (Charlotte, NC)

The CMPD is charging three suspects in the murder of a missing man.  The girlfriend of Eric Spells says he had been missing from a northwest Charlotte home since getting into an argument with a roommate.  Investigators believe Spells was killed in the fight and his body was later hidden.  The three suspects were arrested in Concord.
