Fundraiser for Harper Laird

"My great granddaughter was born with BWS. She is from Candler, NC. She was born while Mom and Dad were visiting a great grandmother in VA, Jan.15, 2017. She was not due until Feb. 21. Her name is Harper Marie Laird. She was born with 75% of her liver and intestines in a sac on the outside of her body. She is almost 8 1/2 months old now and she has liver cancer. Her parents just arrived in Georgetown, Washington, DC a few minutes ago. She will have a CT scan and blood test tomorrow and surgery to remove tumors from her liver Thursday morning at 8:00. We are having a fundraiser for Harper to help pay the bills on Saturday Oct. 21, 2017 at Pole Creek Church Family Live Center. Because Harper was born away from home we had to move her parents from Candler to Roanoke where she was in the hospital 113 days. Then they had to stay in the area for the doctors and all they Harper requires. Had she been born in Asheville she would have been sent to Charlotte, but with the liver cancer Charlotte could not have cared for her. There are not a lot of hospitals and doctors that treat pediatric liver cancer, with the possibility of a liver transplant later if she has more tumors. This has been such a struggle for the whole family and friends to support and keep them going." --Harper's great-grandmother Betty
